Bennett to Host Hearing on "The Long-Run Economics of Natural Gas"

Washington D.C.—Senator Robert F. Bennett, chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, will hold a hearing on “The Long-Run Economics of Natural Gas” at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 7th, 2004. The hearing will examine the factors that have contributed the high gas prices of recent years and discuss possible ways to alleviate them.

Senator Bennett has invited witnesses with a variety of expertise in the area of natural gas who are uniquely positioned to give a true perspective of the supply situation in the U.S. and the rest of the world.

Daniel Yergin, Chairman of Cambridge Energy Research Associates, is the recipient of a Pulitzer Prize for his book and mini-series entitled The Prize: The Epic Quest for Money, Oil, and Power, and recipient of the United States Energy Award for “lifelong achievements in energy and the promotion of international understanding.” Paul Sankey is Senior Energy Analyst for Deutsche Bank. Logan Magruder is Vice President of Berry Petroleum and President of IPAMS, the Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States.
